So I was promoting myself on a message board and someone came along and said I was "SPAMMING."  Now Spam is on of those old terms about ads that very few people are actually interested in (you probably have some in your e-mails about viagra).  Now it is a term used to put people down when they don't want to see what you are doing.

Now there is a much simpler way to avoid things you don't like or are not interested in, don't click the link.  Now keep in mind the person in question with this claim had a nice little blog with a brown, wallpaper like background with a nice pink in the middle.  Within the blog he had a nice comment to Scarlett Johansson that he would be a shoulder to cry on.  Nothing better than geeks who have no sense of style pining over unobtainable women.  I contemplated linking the blog, but really this gives this loser more attention than he deserves, no sense in upping his hit counter.

Still the accuser remarks my promotion was "unsolicited" which is assign because all promotion is unsolicited when you get down to it.  I mean did anyone ask for that billboard to be put up on your way to work.  Did anyone really want to see the ad in which some old guy talks about prostrate health.  OK sure they pay for the time and space, but what about those of us doing things for fun, is there anything wrong with letting others know about it to gain an audience.

Back in the bygone days of the interwebs there were tons of free servers that people could sign up and put up small websites for yourself.  That is how I started and most of us went to the message boards and said "Hey, look what I did."  Yahoo, Angelfire, ect, ect. were all over and people helped promote each others projects.  Today most of those free sites are gone giving way to Facebook and other social networks which allow some basic picture sharing but do not allow for those of us with creative endeavors.  Those of us who create are either stuck in limbo or have to pay for our little corners of the web (unless we got a buddy who can score us some webspace somehow).

Problem is that often in this blog meets social network/I must tell you when I buy a Twinkie world, those who create get lost.  There are so many places to try to bring attention to your efforts but at the same time these areas are so overloaded with people trying to be "the next big thing" they forget about the rest of the world and how we all have merits.

Why do I often post about Troops of Doom or Yak's Pub reaching a milestone or an anniversary?  Because these are guys who create like I do, often Legos do the same (Shameless plug for Bricks Comic Network).  Point being is that I firmly believe in creating for creating's sake.  To have fun with what we have and to enjoy it.  Calling attention to that is Spam?  Well fix me up a sandwich cause I a guess I am in it for the long haul.

Oh if you want to Spam for me, you are completely welcome ;-).
