Cap, in the Toxie universe, is dull as ditchwater. If he does make a joke it is completely on accident and he probably will not catch it. While on the surface this type of a character might seem cliche' I personally think it works on a great many levels. In the most basic way, you have a straight man to play off of in most any situation.
Cap is one of my favorite heroes though, he was one of the earliest comics I ever owned and for the most part has remained a consistent feature on my pull lists. My first solid memory of Cap was him fighting a training robot and it turning on him. I am unsure of the comic's number but I vividly remember the splash page of Cap charging and deflecting an energy bolt with his shield.
Just a bit of my opinion, but nothing will ever beat the original Captain America. Many times people have stepped into the role temporarily and most times it's like listening to a Jimmy Hendrix cover, it sounds good but it just makes you long for the original.
Some people are upset Cap is back after his apparent "death." I'm not and honestly I fully expected it. Nothing against the idea of Bucky being Cap (in fact I kind of enjoyed it) but I had no doubt when Cap was "shot" he would be back really quick.
For the figure I have gone with the Secret Wars Comic Pack version. This is quite obviously intended as the Original Captain America. While the Ultimate version from the same year is pretty good too, the character I have for Cap fits this version much better than the Ultimate version.
It wasn't until that version hit that I decided to make Cap one of the "Stars" of the show. The Superhero Showdown version from Toy Biz a few years ago was ok for Cap as an incidental character but I hated the face sculpt and its cleft chin. This sculpt the face looks like I would want it to be with fine detail but nothing that seems out of place. I don't know if the design could be improved (maybe body wise with some minor tweaks, but not the face at least) so for now he will be my default Cap.
