Ash is one of those characters that is defiantly unique. He has a chainsaw for a hand, a boomstick, and somehow is a complete screw up EXCEPT in relation to the evil dead AKA Deadites. I follow Sam Raimi’s Original idea with Ash on that last part, and an idea he kept going with all the way through the Evil Dead series.

I generally keep to the Army of Darkness version of Ash as it seems to be the most applicable to Toxie’s 1:18th Universe. However there are aspects from Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2. Generally snarky, often not too bright, and of course obnoxious he has some very fun moments in Toxie’s 1:18th Universe.

I use Palisades’s original release of Ash. I have wanted both the S-Mart Ash and “Chainsaw Hand” Ash that were released the following year, but of course Palisades’s blind packaging prevented me from getting that figure. Both of which also had a better face sculpt of Bruce Campbell which would also be nice.

I first used Ash in the short tale “Ash meets GI Joe” in which he went to hunt down Toxo-Zombie with the Joes. There was an intended sequel with Batman but I never got beyond the idea stage with it.

Ash is pretty useless unless Deadites become part of the equation though, I admit it’s somewhat hard to come up with excuses for them to show up.

At times I do borrow from the game “Evil Dead: Fistful of Boomstick” as it’s not as widely known as the movies. There are lines from that game that are very much in the tradition of Ash but haven’t been heard as often as the dialogue of Army of Darkness. Fun game too by the way.
